Most Overrated city in Hawaii. A Traveler's Warning.
I love Hawaii and this is my 3rd island to visit. Oahu, is more than likely an island I'll never return to because it just isn't the lush paradise most people imagine. Too crowded, too many bums, fast paced and one giant tourist trap.

Getting Weird at the Museum of the Weird Austin TX
Переглядів 2243 роки тому
Took a short 30 minute tour at the Museum of the Weird in Austin TX. Kind of a neat circus side show place for those of you into the freaky side of life and not the freaky side you think. It's part Ripley's Believe it or Not, part Madam Tussaud's and part side show freaks. While some think $12.00 admission is a bit steep some may enjoy weirdness. While I don't necessarily enjoy the genre of hor...

Monmouth Plantation, Natchez MS and Overnight Stay

Had one overnight stay in Monmouth Plantation in Natchez MS. Room that I chose rented for $295.00 per night. I visited during the winter so the grounds and gardens were not as pretty as in the spring when everything is in bloom and green. If you decide to pay for a tour, it is a bit pricey for the length of the tour. The overnight stay was nice and the rooms were nice and clean. Monmouth Planta...

    Just went yesterday, absolutely devastating but powerful experience. The end section explaining the rise of Nazi’s in Germany before the family left sounds SO SO similar to what is happening in the United States with Trump and the anti-science/education religious right movement using him as their ticket to fascism.

    But I prefer Ms. Corrie Ten Boom a true Christian and a DUTCH resistance heroine. She was a "conductor" on an underground railroad that got Gypsies, Jews and resisters out of the more populated parts og the Netherlands and to places in Friesland where it was safer to hide.

    The father's stubbornness made the family go through all this, having fought in the previous war, he would have the right to leave for another country with his family without anything happening to them. But he preferred to stay and hide so as not to leave the country and his assets. The irony is that he was the only one of them who survived.

      Except for the fact that he tried to leave with his family, several times. He tried to move to Switzerland, the UK, America and several other countries. He couldn’t because the doors were closed and the documents were burnt down in Rotterdam when Holland was invaded. Don’t blame a man who tried his absolute hardest to keep his family together and safe.

      That is absolutely untrue. In actuality, the only visa he was able to get was for himself, because he was a veteran of the Great War. He didn’t use it because he wasn’t about to leave his family. Blaming innocent Jews for the evils that were inflicted on them is sick.

    The tragedy that happened to Anne Frank is heartbreaking, but when I consider the atrocities committed by her descendants, the Israelis, against the Palestinians today, I wouldn't sympathize with her so much. This is the conclusion I reached after visiting Anne Frank's house in person in February 2019.

    • @shrekxrohankishibe
      @shrekxrohankishibe 5 місяців тому

      You do know that Anne’s descendants don’t exist cause they all died right? The closest one is Buddy Elias who died in 2015. He had children but from what I know they live in America. This way of thinking is the exact reason on why Israel needs to exist. Anne has absolutely nothing to do with it and to come on here and bitch about it purely based on her religion is nothing less than obnoxious. All she wanted was to live in peace. Lastly, Otto Frank literally fought against discrimination against every group. He had nothing to do with Israel nor did he really speak about it. What he fought for is quite literally the opposite of what Anne’s so called “descendants” were apparently doing.

      @@shrekxrohankishibe Don't avoid the issue or read once more carefully what I wrote. Anne Frank and all his family is Jewish and also victims of Holocaust. I said descendent of her, it means Israeli also carry out almost same level of the holocaust against Palestines. I don't support Israeli neither Palestines but, in maximum objective opinion, Israeli (most of all extreme radicals) look like Nazi in the second World War.

    Ich kann das alles nicht mehr hören! Bei Anne Frank ist die gesamte Bundesregierung von K. Adenauer, T. Heuss, auch O. Lafontaine, alle bis zu den derzeitigen heute noch Abgeordneten Schuldig, Schuldig, Meine Urteilsbegründung: Der Anne Frank deportierte, starb am 24. Mai 2012 in Ingolstadt Klaas Carel Faber. Er war 1947 von einem niederländischen Gericht zum Tode verurteilt worden, weil er als SS-Freiwilliger Zivilisten ermordet hatte. Faber entkam jedoch nach Deutschland, dessen Staatsbürgerschaft er wie alle ausländischen SS-Freiwilligen durch einen Erlass von Adolf Hitler erhalten hatte. Er konnte also nicht ausgeliefert werden. Deutsche Ermittlungen in den fünfziger Jahren scheiterten, weil die Niederländer nicht mit der immer noch von Nazis durchsetzten deutschen Justiz zusammenarbeiteten. Kurz vor Fabers Tod gab es Pläne, das in lebenslange Haft umgewandelte Urteil in Deutschland zu vollstrecken. Weihnachten 1952 floh er gemeinsam mit den Kriegsverbrechern Willem Polak (1915-1993), Herbertus Bikker (1915-2008), Antoine Touseul (1921-1991), Sander Borgers (1917-1985), Willem van der Neut (1919-1983) und Jacob de Jonge aus dem „Kuppelgefängnis“ von Breda (Niederlande) in die Bundesrepublik Deutschland und setzte sich mit Hilfe eines bundesdeutschen Polizisten und ehemaligen Kriegskameraden über die Grenze in die Bundesrepublik Deutschland ab. Dort lehnte man wiederholt die Auslieferung ab, da er als SS-Freiwilliger aufgrund eines Erlasses von 1943 als deutscher Staatsangehöriger galt und Deutsche nach damaligem Recht nicht ausgeliefert werden konnten. Das Landgericht Düsseldorf lehnte 1957 die Aufnahme eines Hauptverfahrens gegen Faber mit der Begründung in dubio pro reo (lat. „Im Zweifel für den Angeklagten“) ab, da die Niederlande die Vorlage von Beweismitteln verweigert hätten. Vom Ruhrgebiet zog er 1961 nach Ingolstadt und arbeitete bis zur Rente beim Autohersteller Auto Union (heute Audi) als Angestellter Werksfremdenführer. 2004 ersuchten die Niederlande um Übernahme der Vollstreckung der Strafe durch den deutschen Justizvollzug, das Landgericht Ingolstadt wertete die Düsseldorfer Entscheidung von 1957 jedoch als Strafklageverbrauch und lehnte sowohl Vollstreckungsübernahme als auch weitere Ermittlungen ab. Am 25. November 2010 erließen die Niederlande einen Europäischen Haftbefehl gegen Faber. Am 18. Mai 2011 entschied die Münchner Generalstaatsanwaltschaft, dass Faber aufgrund seiner seiner fehlenden Zustimmung nicht an die Niederlande ausgeliefert werden könne.

      Ever thought some people may not have the means to see this place. And by means I mean monetarily or physically. A $1500 airplane ticket plus hotel and food is unattainable for some. Plus, with this site being such a treasured place, why cant everyone enjoy it, even if its just online. If a photo or video is disrespect we'll just have to disagree.

    • @louisemackinnon3265
      @louisemackinnon3265 11 місяців тому

      @@NegativeNomad There is plenty of approved information, photos and documentaries available online that Anne Frank Haus and Otto himself have approved for this very purpose. It does not take away that you had blatant disrespect for a national monument of another country. There is a reason why they ask visitors to refrain from photography during orientation. There is signage everywhere at the entrance and throughout the museum. It's always the Americans that can't seem to help themselves by not following the rules outside of the US. Lastly - the museum's purpose is not for people's "enjoyment" as you say. It is to reflect on the suffering of the Holocaust and to inspire people of today to actively combat prejudice and discrimination. Go to Disneyland if you want enjoyment!
